The Critical International Law Summer Institute is open to graduate students, law students, and students in the Social Sciences and Humanities. All applicants are required to complete an online application, and submit supplementary documentation to be considered for admission.

We are thrilled that you have decided to participate again. Students who have previously participated in the Summer Institute can submit a simplified application provided their institution and research project have remained unchanged. For a simplified application, you will be asked to submit a:

To provide the best opportunity for learning and engagement, admission to Summer Institute is competitive. All applications are carefully reviewed by our admissions committee which seeks to enroll students who are able to demonstrate how participation in the Summer Institute is related to and will benefit their research and learning interests.
Application Dates
Fellowship decisions are made at the time of application. Failure to submit all required materials by December 31, 2021 may result in a rejection or declined offer. New requests for fellowships received after this date may be considered on a case by case basis.
To promote networking and engagement, students will be housed in the same facility as participating faculty.
The inclusive course cost is USD $2,000. This includes hotel accommodation, meals, tuition and registration fees, and ground transportation for class trips. Air transportation and transfers between the hotel and airport are not included and are the responsibility of participants.
A non-refundable registration deposit of USD $500 is required at the time of acceptance and will be deducted from the total course cost.

Students must have international health insurance to participate.

Fellowships to cover airfares, accommodation, meals, tuition and registration fees will be available on a limited and competitive basis for students from the Global South.
To be considered for a scholarship, please indicate that you are applying for a scholarship on your application and submit a short (up to 350 words) description of how receiving this scholarship will be beneficial to your learning and research goals.
Review Process
Fellowships are awarded to students who have been accepted into the program and have chosen to apply for a fellowship. Students are notified of the fellowship decision at the same time as their program admission decision.
